Bio[Artist's Statement] - [Resume] - [Interview] - [Collage]Laura Lein-Svencner is a papermaker and collage artist who creates unique art from recycled and found images and objects.
Lein-Svencner has won many awards for her work and has exhibited nationally in galleries, Santa Fe New Mexico, Oregon, Wisconsin, Ohio, and New York City.
My personal art style is about taking bits and pieces of a subject and trying to make sense of it. I have adapted to a unique learning style because I absorb information differently than most people. As a result, I have learned to use a variety of educational tools that have heightened my awareness of the world around me. I am primarily a hands on learner which has served me well because I tend to experiment more and think beyond the obvious. I design classroom and workshop curricula through which I share with children and adults some of the basic design skills and techniques in collage. My art comes from my ability to express life stories that come from my journals and through my relationships. It is personal yet universal. I have exhibited in a variety of outdoor art fairs, local and international exhibitions and have curated several collage exhibits. I maintain my enthusiasm by continuing to explore new ideas and techniques.
Teaching PhilosophyMy philosophy as an art instructor is to help student understand, making art is a process and that through the process they will be exploring, experimenting, evolving and honing in on their own visual perspective of the world around them. I strongly feel art is about events happening in our every day lives and to capture that emotion, sound, color, taste, texture and perspective of your view is what becomes the artist's challenge, to seek and express. So I hope that I can inspire my students to do just that. |
